A common question people ask is, how long does it take for shoulder arthroplasty to heal? It depends on what you mean by healing.
Your skin typically heals within a week or two. The implants are designed to grow into the bone, and it takes a couple of months for them to grow. What I think of with healing is when everything is set in the bone and strong enough to let people do whatever they want. That’s typically around three months after the surgery.
We let people move them quickly because they’re very strong at time zero during the operation. But until everything’s solid in your bone and everything’s set. It’s around three months, and at that point, we say, “Do whatever you want with your shoulder.” Try to pretend like you never had surgery and live your best life.
